Annual Statement

Chair of Governors

The Governing Body and the Leadership Team work together to ensure that every pupil in the school gets the very best education and opportunities offered to them. Myself and rest of the board work closely with the head teacher to make decisions vital to the successful running of the school. We are responsible for the appointment of the head teacher and make decisions that directly affect the education and well-being of our school community. We play an important role in improving standards and agree the school’s budget.

The day to day management of the school is the responsibility of the head teacher and the staff. Rather than manage, myself and the rest of the governors are here to help shape Belmont Park’s future direction and focus.

We work as a team. Individual governors have no power or responsibility. It is only the full governing body which has legal duties and powers and all governors share this responsibility.

Membership of the Governing Body is varied and includes staff and co-opted members from the local community.  We would like our parent community to be better represented on our governing body and so, would love to hear from you if you would like to join us in this role or to find out more about it.

The Governing Body, through financial scrutiny, staff recruitment and performance management, health and safety, buildings and maintenance, participation in monitoring activities of Learning and Teaching alongside school leaders, and safeguarding, is able to offer rigorous and stringent strategic overview of all processes and procedures for our pupils and staff.

Most importantly, at the heart of Belmont Park is our pupils. Keeping the school's motto, ‘Dream, Believe, Achieve' at the heart of everything, is the responsibility of the whole school community, parents, staff, pupils and governors.  This is how we will be able to ensure our students leave with the self-confidence and desire to achieve the dreams they never thought possible.

Good communication and information is vital to the on-going development and improvement of the school. If you have something you wish to bring to the Governor’s attention, you can get in touch with me via the school office.  Send an email FAO Chair of Governors or you can send/hand an envelope (marked FAO Chair of Governors) to the office for them to pass on to me.
