July News Letter 2021
July News letter 2021
It was, with a bit of a wry smile that I read my last newsletter to you at Easter. In it I wrote about “how pleased we are to be once again fully open and that all students are now back in school”. Here we are four months later and yet again we have had to partially close the school for the third time in a month. I sincerely hope that this will be the last time that we have to do this but already experts are warning of another wave in September. By then rules about self-isolating will have changed and we will keep you updated about these.
I know it has been a challenging year both for ourselves and you and your family. I would like to thank you all for your patience and support. Overall our children have coped very well with the fractured nature of the education this year.
We are particularly pleased with the progress that many of our Year 11 students have made. Their behaviour was mostly excellent and many students are on track to achieve well in their exams this summer. It is a real shame that we were not able to have a formal send off for them but we wish all of them the very best moving forward.
Unusually we have no staff leaving us this term, but I would like to thank all staff for their commitment and dedication over the past year. This is also the case for the staff who will be working on our Summer School programme for the first five weeks of the holiday.
I hope that everyone has a peaceful summer and that everyone stays safe and gets time to relax and enjoy the weather.
School re-opens for staff on Wednesday 1st September when we have two days of INSET. School will reopen for students at the usual time on Friday 3rd September 2021.
