April 2016 Newsletter
As I said in my first newsletter, time at Belmont Park seems to pass very quickly and no two days are the same. There is an energy and enthusiasm here which when focused and used in the right way produces some incredible results. This was celebrated at the end of the first half term with an achievement assembly. I was slightly nervous about getting the whole school together but the students responded magnificently. Their teachers and mentors had positive things to say about every group and many certificates were given out. We now have display boards in reception to celebrate the high attendees and achievers within the school.
I would like to thank you for your support with the uniform that has been introduced and most students are wearing it and look really smart. There are a small number who are still not wearing black leather shoes or trainers and after Easter if students are not in proper uniform they will be asked to return home and get into proper uniform.
Next term we will have a new website which will have up to date information about the school. It will take a little while until it is fully completed but it will be an improvement on the old website. We will also be reviewing our behavior policy and will keep you updated on developments.
Finally I would like to say a massive thank you to John and Christine as they retire after having been the school caretaker and cleaner at Belmont Park for the past 36 years. They have done an amazing job and have been a key part of our community. They have had a real pride in the their jobs and have been fully committed to keeping the school as neat and tidy as possible for staff and students. We wish them both a long and happy retirement. They will be greatly missed.
After the Easter break it will only be a matter of weeks until our older students sit there GCSE Exams. We held a practice Maths Mock this week and the students’ behavior was generally excellent. It is important that the students prepare for the exams and do as well as they can do. The better they do in their GCSE’s the more options they have when they leave us. We wish them all every success.
School will reopen on Tuesday 12th April 2016 and advanced notice that the school will be closed on Thursday 5th May and Thursday 23rd June because we will be used as a polling station for the London Mayoral Elections and the European Union referendum.
I wish you all a peaceful and relaxing Easter break
